![]() Gloomhaven isn't too bad, but the rulebook includes colored borders around hex overlays for set up and I often struggle to identify which ones have orange borders vs. There are red and brown ones that have different sculpts, but look pretty similar to me. ![]() I mean the little buildings that sit on your player mat and get removed as you progress up tracks. ![]() ![]() I have also put the wrong pieces in the wrong place in Tapestry. It wasn't a huge issue, but I did have to ask a few times who I was helping / hurting with my pieces. The blue and purple player pieces were indistinguishable. I recently had this issue with Hansa Teutonica as well. It went on the trade pile after a single play. I found it impossible to decipher and was literally asking my friends what color several things were every turn. They have the pepper colors printed on cards with colored backgrounds. but what is way worse is the cards in the game that show recipes. It has like 7 colors of pepper token and they can be tricky. The worst game I ever played in terms of colorblindness was Scoville. It is so easy to slap symbols on those.Īnother colorblind gamer here. There might be other ways to distinguish them, but none as cheap.įor components that already have art as an integral part of the component though, such as cards and game boards, they should 100% absolutely have a way to distinguish them other than just color. This would go for a lot of wooden and plastic components, such as the cubes pictured above. Likely needing entirely different molds which would make the game a lot more expensive to produce. So how do you split them up into groups? Color is pretty simple and cheap. You want them all to functionally be the same, all 6 sided dice with the same distribution of numbers on their sides. But let's say you need to separate the dice into different categories such as you do in Sagrada. I think it matters more what types of components we're talking about rather than the complexity of the game. Sharing this here because maybe this discovery also becomes useful for someone else. You cannot imagine my relief and amazement at this. And omg it instantly identifies colors from your camera. I've given up on games just because I couldn't distinguish the components.□Īnyway, I recently discovered this Android phone app called Color Grab. And from what I know, it's pretty common (1 out of 8 men, and 1 in 200 women are.)īeing colorblind can be downright miserable in this hobby. I have trouble distinguishing between red/green, and blue/violet. Hi everyone! Just sharing a discovery of mine!□ I figured this is worth a re-share as more people out there may find this useful.
